West Columbia Offers Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry

While all of our treatments are focused on ensuring a memorable experience, confidence, and comfort, we take two approaches to your dental health–restorative and cosmetic.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is focused on bringing back the best in your smile after your teeth have sustained damage.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes, a tooth may be infected beyond saving with additional treatments. In this case, an extraction (removal) may be required in order to protect the adjacent teeth. Although pulling teeth sounds like a painful procedure, rest assured that we will provide you with an anesthetic so you’re as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Some temporary discomfort may occur after, but we can help manage the pain. The good news is that once this temporary discomfort is over with, you won’t feel anymore pain from infection.

Root Canals

Root canals are typically necessary if your tooth has a cavity in it that was left untreated. If a cavity isn’t filled it, it can become severely infected and become re-infected. This results in long-term pain and discomfort that can significantly reduce your quality of life. A root canal is a long process, but we will assure that you’re comfortable and any sign of infection will be removed. At the same time, a root canal will prevent your tooth from becoming infected again.

Dentures

Poor dental hygiene may result in the loss of multiple adult (permanent) teeth. Not only will you start to lack confidence if your smile is incomplete, but missing teeth can also result in facial collapse–a term we use to describe sagging cheeks and lips and a generally aged appearance. Facial collapse occurs because the missing teeth are no longer able to support the jaw and rest of the face. We offer both complete and partial dentures to help you get your smile back.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Cavities can occur because of genetics and/or because of poor oral hygiene habits. The good news is that cavities are easy to treat–especially if they are caught early on. These days, in lieu of silver fillings, we utilize composite fillings. Composite fillings blend in with the natural color of your teeth, meaning fillings go virtually unnoticed when you’re talking or laughing.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns, sometimes referred to as dental caps, are placed on top of the tooth (hence their name). Our West Columbia dentists may recommend a dental crown if your tooth was damaged and weakened as a way to reinforce it and keep it healthy.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is just how it sounds. It is a “bridge” that fills in the space between two teeth. These can be attached to healthy teeth that have been topped off with dental crowns, or, alternatively, to dental implants. This simply depends on your individual case. Dental bridges are a great way to fill in your smile.

Dental Implants

If you’re missing only a few teeth (1-2), then a dental implant may be a viable method to complete your smile once again. Dental implants are a permanent fixture that replaces the missing tooth (including the root), effectively filling in the gap, keeping adjacent teeth healthy, and preventing/correcting facial collapse.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dental procedures are often elective procedures that simply elevate the beauty of your smile and give you a boost of confidence.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain used to recreate the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth

Braces & Invisalign

Some of our patients suffer from problems with the alignment of their teeth. Many habits and circumstances can cause misalignment, which not only affects the appearance of your smile but also increases your risk of other oral health concerns. Dental braces and Invisalign successfully straighten your teeth and correct any issues that were previously caused by crookedness, overbites, and underbites.
