What to Expect When Getting a Dental Bridge at West Columbia Dental
Getting a dental bridge takes about two visits to West Columbia Dental. Once we’ve determined that a bridge is right for you, we will “prepare” the teeth on either side of the gap. This means we will shave them down slightly to ensure that your bridge is a snug fit. If there are any cavities or other concerns, we will also address those before fitting you for a bridge. Once your teeth are prepared, we will take impressions so we gain an understanding of how the dental bridge must be shaped and send those off to our lab. While the lab creates your custom dental bridge, we will fit you with a temporary bridge that will protect your teeth (and the gap).
At your second appointment when getting a dental bridge, your permanent dental bridge will be ready. We will place it and ask you how it feels. At this appointment, it is critical that you speak openly about how it fits. Since this is a long-term restoration, it needs to fit comfortably. We will make some minor adjustments until we get a perfect fit, at which point we will discuss care instructions.
